Meet the Trapnell Advancement Team
|
St.
Andrew's Office of Advancement comprises all the fundraising,
communication and publications tasks at St. Andrew's School. The office
is located on campus in the Trapnell House, which was formerly the
faculty residence of the Washburns and the Higginses. We hope that you
will get to know all of us and feel free to call on us whenever you
need assistance.
Gordon Brownlee '75
Director of Advancement
Gordon returned to St. Andrew's in 2003 to direct the School's capital
giving efforts. For 23 years he directed institutional
advancement for such notable institutions as Kennedy Krieger Institute
in Baltimore, Md., Mount Rushmore National Memorial in Rapid City,
S.D., and as a consultant to numerous educational, health and
arts-related organizations with Brakeley, Inc. (now
Brakeley/Briscoe). Gordon loves interacting with alumni, families
and friends of St. Andrew's from all generations, and helping them
understand the essential mission and culture of the School. He
and his wife, Pam, the associate director of counseling at St.
Andrew's, have three children, Lindsay '05, Peter '09 and Colin.

Mary Cameron
Advancement Associate: Gift Management
Mary joined the Trapnell Team in 2001. She manages all annual and capital giving contributions; she works closely with members of the advancement office, the School's business office as well as external auditors to ensure accuracy. Mary came to St. Andrew's after 20 years at Delaware Foundation for Retarded Children—Reaching Citizens With Cognitive Disabilities, where she gained extensive experience in data management and accounting as the Director of Operations. While at DFRC, Mary served on various volunteer committees such as the finance committee, program chair and banquet chair. Mary lives in Newark with her husband and two dogs, a Springer Spaniel and a Carin Terrier. She has two children and three grandchildren. In her spare time, she likes traveling with her family, reading novels and gardening.

Taylor Cameron '90
Major Gifts Officer
Taylor returned to
St. Andrew’s in 2007 after a 13-year career in retail and commercial
banking. As a long-time member and officer of the Alumni Association,
Taylor now looks forward to assisting the School in its leadership and
capital giving efforts on a full-time basis. He enjoys any opportunity
to interact with St. Andrew’s alumni and friends while helping to
support the mission of the School. When not in the office, Taylor can
often be found fishing or hunting on Maryland’s eastern shore. Taylor
and his wife, Shannon, live in Warwick, Md., with their two children,
Alex and Logan.

Bernadette Devine '99 Major Gifts Officer and Women's Network Coordinator Bernadette returned to St. Andrew’s at the end of 2008 to join the Advancement team after working for five years in feature film production and sports marketing. As a junior board member of many philanthropic organizations, Bernadette now looks forward to turning her passion for fundraising from a hobby into a career. Eager to connect with alumni and parents in order to celebrate and support the St. Andrew’s ethos, Bernadette will also be coordinating the St. Andrew’s Women’s Network initiatives. Bernadette lives in New York City when she is not on campus and enjoys reading, party planning, sailing on Maryland’s Eastern Shore and coaching lacrosse. Contact: E-mail Bernadette.
Jean Garnett
Assistant Director of Communications
Jean came to St. Andrew's in 2007 as the assistant director of communications and a member of English Department. As assistant director, Jean writes for the Magazine and Web site, as well as for admissions, annual fund and alumni publications, among many other duties. During the School year, Jean teaches English to IV Formers. Jean likes to paint, watch classic (and occasionally not-so-classic) films, draw faces on post-its, listen to beautiful things (i.e. Otis Redding and American folk music) and sing duets with her twin sister, Callie. Director of Annual Giving
Marianne's relationship with St. Andrew's began long before she joined
the Trapnell Team in 2006. The wife of an alum and the mother of four
St. Andrew's alumni, Marianne now encourages
all alumni to support the School as the director of annual
giving. She works closely with class agents, parent volunteers and
others to promote the Annual Fund and stewardship of St. Andrew's.
Prior to her current position, Marianne worked in the development
office of Washington College in Chestertown, Md. When she's not hard at
work in the Trapnell House, Marianne enjoys working with her husband on
their family farm near Chestertown.

Amy Kendig Director of Communications
Amy designs and
oversees the production of all St. Andrew's print materials and
publications. During her seven years at St. Andrew's, she has redesigned
the look of the St. Andrew's Magazine, the viewbook, admission
materials and School stationery. She also helps design the School's Web
sites and she organizes the School's annual Scholarship Golf
Tournament. Amy came to St. Andrew's from Gilman School in
Baltimore, Md., where she worked as a publications assistant for two
years. As a designer, Amy derives creative inspiration from the natural
beauty of St. Andrew's School and the many talents of the students,
faculty and alumni.
Contact: E-mail Amy or call (302) 285-4278.Rachelle Miclette Advancement Associate: Major and Capital GiftsRachelle came to St. Andrew’s in 2008 without previous connections, but was thrilled to be accepted so quickly into the St. Andrew's family. Prior to her joining the Trapnell Team, Rachelle worked at Schmittinger & Rodriguez P.A. where she interned in high school and college and later worked as an estate paralegal. Her previous experience in estates and planned gifts has prepared her for working in advancement focusing in major and capital gifts. Rachelle performs research and organizes events for the School’s advancement efforts. In her down time, Rachelle enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband, Nathan, and dog, Mouse. Contact: E-mail Rachelle or call (302) 285-4413. Cynthia Poarch Advancement Associate: Constituent RelationsCynthia is a 2008 addition to the Trapnell Team. She comes to St. Andrew’s from Appoquinimink School District where she worked with the reading specialist to help children struggling with reading comprehension. Cynthia began her professional career as a systems analyst working in the banking industry. She left the technical field to raise a family and became actively involved in volunteer work. Cynthia continues to work with her church, the local school district and St. Anne’s Episcopal School. She is responsible for coordinating the logistics of alumni events, the production of electronic and printed communication material and general office management. When not at St. Andrew’s, you can usually find Cynthia either in a gymnasium or on a soccer field cheering on one of her four children with her sports-enthused husband, Brad. Contact: E-mail Cynthia or call (302) 285-4257. Chesa Profaci ’80 Director of Alumni RelationsChesa has promoted stewardship in all aspects of the program at St. Andrew's for 18 years. She now concentrates her efforts on alumni relations,
serving as the point-person for alumni regional groups nationwide and
helping organize social, service and cultural events for alumni, parents and friends of the School
throughout the year, both on and off campus. She also plays a key role in coordinating St.
Andrew's dynamic Reunion Weekend each June. Chesa is a friend to
alumni from all generations, and she loves catching up with old and new
friends both on campus and while traveling. She lives with her family

Denise Thorn
Advancement Associate
Denise came to St. Andrew's after 13 years at Citibank, where she held
various positions, most recently as an executive administrative
assistant. In her current position since 2004, Denise coordinates the
mailing of over 45,000 pieces of mail every year from the advancement
office, assists in updating contact information for constituents in the
alumni and parent database and maintains the paper files for over 4,000
St. Andrew's alumni. She also compiles and edits Class Notes for the
St. Andrew's Magazine four times each year. When not at work, Denise
loves remodeling her new home on Lake Como, Smyrna as well relaxing on her dock.
