Payne '01, NCAA Div III swimmer of meet

Lindsay Payne '01, a junior at Williams College, competed at the NCAA Division III Championship Meet on March 12. Williams' Web site reports that Payne established a new national and meet record with her morning prelim in the 200 Breaststroke. Payne was clocked in 2:16.40, which was .40 faster than her winning time at NESCACs and the previous national mark. Payne won her second individual title in the evening finals of the 200 Breaststroke when she led the field with a time of 2:16.45.
Payne was named the swimmer of the Meet for leading the ephs to wins in both the 200 and 400 Medley Relays and setting meet records in the 100 (1:02.75) and 200 (2:16.40) Breaststroke. Payne won the 100 Breaststroke for the third time and next winter will have a chance to become the first NCAA Div. III swimmer to win the 100 Breaststroke four times in a career.
