As Sarah Stivers ‘83 prepares to release her debut
CD,” This Girl’s in Love! on November 12, she thinks back to St.
Andrew’s and her performance at the 2005 Reunion Alumni Concert:
“At this very moment [pictured here], I dropped my head back and
took a minute (during the piano solo) to think back at what I had been
at St. Andrew’s, what I was now and what I was going to be. I let
memories run through my mind—recalling the things I had done at St.
Andrew’s, and I took that time to look up –and be grateful.
That’s where the smile comes from. I was in the middle of being
very grateful.”
So grateful that Sarah is giving back 30 percent
from the sale of every CD to the St. Andrew’s Scholarship Fund.
Over the range of her repertoire from Cole Porter to
Burt Bacharach, Sarah’s style has been described as “sensitive and
intelligent with controlled passion and an unbeatable combination of
emotions.” A fellow musician says her “intonation is flawless and her
phrasing is reminiscent of the classic standard singers Sarah Vaughn
and Anita O’Day.”
