McGrail sets new record; earns All-County honors
Monday, November 06, 2006
This Saturday Marina McGrail '08 ran a 19:05 at the New Castle County Meet, which is the fastest time a SAS runner has ever run on any 3.1 mile course. She took 6th in the race, and she is the first St. Andrew's girl to ever win All-County honors. (Phoebe Matthews '09 and Lucinda Caldwell '10 were 21st and 22nd respectively. The cut-off for All-County honors was 20th place.)
The team finished ahead of the #4 ranked team from Wilmington Charter, and took 4th place at the meet. The teams that finished ahead of St. Andrew's are the three fastest teams in the state (Tatnall, Padua, and St. Mark's.) St. Andrew's 4th-place finish represents the best finish at the New Castle County Meet in School history. The Tatnall team is nationally ranked. St. Andrew's hopes to stay near them in the state meet this Saturday.
